Dr Merugumalla is a consultant in Emergency Medicine and Paediatric Emergency Medicine currently working in Peterborough City Hospital, Peterborough, United Kingdom.

Formerly, Dr Merugumalla lead the department in provision of Mental Health Services (was responsible for the inception of 24/7 Liaison Psychiatry Services in Peterborough City Hospital), Women’s Health (developed patient pathways to stream-line care for gynaecological emergencies), Drug and Alcohol Services (worked in close association with community services and Cambridgeshire police) and Domestic Violence (with Trust Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults Team).

Dr Merugumalla has a keen interest in influencing health care legislation and believes healthcare professionals are best placed to make an impactful contribution to ensure that healthcare services are fit for purpose in the future.

Outside work, Dr Merugumalla is involved in social projects working with disadvantaged children, loves art, cooking and listening to music.
